The story begins with Chetan Bhagat receiving an email from a person name Govind.In which He mentioned that He had committed three big mistakes of his life and that's why he wishes to committed suicide.Chetan bhagat gets terrified when He reads the email and contact to one of his teachers from his college regarding the email.Chetan Bhagat tries to do some research about the guy and finds out that the Govind is admitted in civil hospital of Ahmedabad Because he try to kill himself by overdosing. Chetan Bhagat goes to Gujrat and meets Govind at the hospital.Govind starts to tell his story in flashback.
Three friends Ishaan,Govind and Omi lived in a small town of Ahmadabad.Ishaan is a cricket player.He wants to join Indian cricket team but unfortunately couldn't. Govind is really good in mathematics but He belong to a poor family. That's why he couldn't get admision to an engineering college. But Govind doesn't feel sad about it because he doesn't want to work under someone else.He wants to start his own business. The third friend Omi doesn't know what do in life ,He has no goal and no future plans.His father is a priest but omi shows least interest in that .The three friend decide to meet and discuss about to start a new buisness.Govind gets an idea to open a sports shop and focus mainly on cricket products.With the help of Omi they are able to get a store inside a temple for rent.As Ishaan has so much interest in cricket he helped customers by giving them tips about cricket .The store gives a boost start because of Govind as he was a business minded. Govind realizes that the store is doing great business and decide to buying a shop in shopping mall.He borrows money to pay advance for the shop in shopping mall.Due to some financial problem Govind started to sell stationary material along with sports products.
For the expansion of buisness Ishaan also started giving cricket coaching lessons to the players in a compound . And to help Ishaan,Govind started to give maths tuition to the players.Ishaan finds out about a boy named Ali who plays cricket very well.One time,While playing game Ali gets dizzy.Ishaan take Ali to docter where he come to know that Ali has a Hyper Reflex problem due to which he plays good cricket.Ali can see reflexes 10 times better than the normal person can.That is why Ali gets fired easily and starts having a headache. Ishaan likes Ali a lot and starts to teach him cricket.Ishaan has a sister named Vidya.Ishaan request to Govind to teach his sister mathematics as she has to clear entrance exam.Vidya gets attracted to Govind and starts falling in love with him.She also confessed a love through a card.After some time Govind also starts falling in love with vidya.One day suddenly an earthquake occurs and the shop in the shopping mall gets destroyed completely. Govind hears about this and breaks down. He had already put a lot of money for the shop.This was the First Mistake of his life.the mistake of investing all his and his friends money in a single project.
After few months there is a match between India and Australia in Goa.Ali and the three friends reached in a Goa to watch that match.Ishaan had trained Ali in such a way that he doesn't get tired soon.They met fred li,an Australian cricketer.Ishaan tells fred li about Ali's problem.Fred li test Ali and astonished by his performance. Fred li invites Ali to Australian academy and arranges tickets for all of them.Ali's training begins in Australia. Australian sports academy and Head of AIS scholarship program meet Ali and offers him a scholarship but they also provide a condition that to attain the scholarship Ali has to become a citizen of Australia. Ali refuses the scholarship directly.Meanwhile Govind started to miss Vidya.On Vidya's birthday they both come close and share some deep intense movements.They crossed their limits.This was the second mistake of Govind's life.The mistake of falling in love with his best friend's sister.
Omi has a Uncle who's son gets killed in a Muslim riotes.Omi's uncle turns to furious and decides to burn a Muslim.His man killed Ali's mother and father too.Ishaan,Omi and Govind hides ali in a hotel building.Omi's uncle and his man reached the building somehow and orders Ali to come out as he was a muslim.But the Ishaan refuses.while saving Ali ,Omi is killed. When Omi's uncle sees
Omi is dieing in front of him,he is filled with rage. He throws a knife at Ali .Govind thinks to save Ali but realizes that he may also die.Govind become selfish.Few seconds later he decides to save Ali but it was too late.Ali gets hurt on his wrist by the knife thrown by Omi's uncle.This was the third mistakes of Govind's life.If he hadn't been selfish he could have saved Ali without hurting him.Omi's uncle also dies.Ishaan's hence stop working and starts ignoring Govind.The store get halved .One half is Ishaan's sports store and other one is Govind's stationary .
Also vidya's family come to know about her and Govind's affair.They send her out of town and warned her not to contact Govind But still Vidya calls Govind. Ali's wrist operation required him Rs.Five Lack.Ishaan said clearly no to Govind's money.But one day Govind and Vidya came to Ishaan and apologized for their mistakes.Ishaan forgives Govind and they both hugged each other .Ali's wrist recovers and he starts to play cricket just like before.

This was the story of the "Three Mistakes Of My Life" and also a Bollywood film "Kai po Che!" Starring Sushant Singh Rajput(Ishaan),Rajkumar Rao(Govind) and Amit Sadh(omi).
